Let It Gatsby

this weekend the beloved encounter of desire, regret, and lots of money will come to life on the big screen and, being one of my all-time favorite books (and thats saying something because i read. a LOT), i couldnt be more excited. call me crazy, but the trailer literally gives me chills. the great gatsby has continued to inspire me since i turned the first page in high school, but never have i been able to so eloquently express my connection to it until today with the help of another all-time favorite lulus.com.

"if personality is an unbroken series of successful gestures, then there was something gorgeous about him" and i could say the same thing about this look. from the twenties inspired jewelry and the gold accented heels to the crochet dress and gem encrusted headpiece, there is something stunning about this pairing. and through this glimpse into a past full of glitz and glam, ive realized i was born in the wrong decade. hows the world doing on creating a time machine? anyone?

when did you fall in love with gatsby? why? whats your favorite part or character? and, who are you seeing the movie with?

p.s. without the beautiful and talented emily venger, who so graciously transformed my hair and makeup to perfectly match the time period and make me feel as pretty as daisy buchanan through gatsbys eyes, i would have thought neutrals, cat eyes, and coral lipstick were appropriate when theyre so not. thank you from the bottom of my heart! book emily for all your beauty needs at 'n style salon by calling 661-254-4841 and dont forget to like her brand new facebook page here.

p.s.s. where would i be without my other emily, emily magers photography. getting ready is only half the battle but its never work or war with you, you know exactly how to take and edit head-turning photos and i am in constant awe of your amazing abilities and always will be. thank you for giving me the opportunity to not just portray a favorite novel, but to always have the paused proof of this beautiful day. see the other exciting things emilys up to and like her facbeook page here.

see you sunday! and in the meantime be sure to follow along on instagram and twitter @megmagers

  15. Very Daisy! I recently read it again. And again I am stunned by its beauty. You forget, when you read a lot, about how beautiful true wordsmiths are. FSF's prose is everything yummiest in this world. I am sure Baz will do an amazing job but I am not sure I can see it.
